Rejected

My friend Nick Mirov (who also happens to be Logan’s cousin) kindly helped me set up this website, for which I am super greatful!

Nick plays guitar in Love is Chemicals, and recently went on tour.  Before they hit the road, he asked me if I could come up with a t-shirt design for the band. Happy to contribute,  I whipped something up really quickly, which summarily got rejected as caca.  I actually still really like my design.  I even added some cheesy color washes in photoshop to imagine how it might look on a t-shirt or sticker:

Another Dolores Elf

Here’s another young lady from that day in the park. She was sweet and down to earth:

Serene? Nah.

serena

This is an outspoken and pretty young lady I met at Dolores Park one afternoon, along with a bunch of her high school companions. I think her diet almost entirely consisted of 40s and other controlled substances, no joke. Her name is misleading.

some friends–Joe and Petey

joe-and-petey

Petey told me he once devoured an 8 x 8 from In-N-Out burger, no problem. He also ripped off a finger nail (twice!) to tattoo his finger. I think his balls might be bulletproof.

Eye Poppin’

My buddy Victor Cayro (aka Bald Eagles) is a total shredder of an artist and cartoonist. A while back he was asked to contribute to a zine celebrating M.U.S.C.L.E. Men, those collectible little figurines we used to play with back in the eighties:

For the zine Victor created about a dozen different M.U.S.C.L.E. Men of his own imaginings, including this awesome Popeye the Spiderman:

Some time after the birth of this drawing, I was writing BART with Logan and busted out my Moleskine but I couldn’t think of what to draw. Logan suggest I try my hand at my own Popeye the Spiderman, and this is how it came out:

As I told Mr. Eagles, it is no where near as sophisticated as his, but the abundance of mocos
give it a certain charm.

**Incidentally that zine has yet to make it to print, which is a shame, but write furiously to Alvin at Buenaventura Press, wish him a happy birthday, and beg him to make it happen!!!

Happy Leprechaun Day

I have been lucky enough to spend the last few days in a magical place called Kish, nestled in St. Helena.

Brigid

I ran into Brigid twice last week. Nice seeing her. Reminded me of this drawing I did of her, almost a whole year ago:

brigid

This was at the Line Bar in Juarez, Mexico. I don’t think she will be playing any shows in that town again soon. Some dude in the audience couldn’t stop slapping her butt while she was performing. Later he came up to her and said he was gay.
